Challenges<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><\/h2>\n\n<p>One of the debates taking place in society, which confronts the different&#13;\npolitical currents vying to lead us, is the assessment, after 12 years of economic openness, of the quality of foreign investment that has arrived in&#13;\nthe Principality and whether it has truly fostered economic diversification as&#13;\nintended.<\/p>\n\n<p>I believe that, with nuances, everyone agrees that this first stage has been more about volume than quality and that, for real diversification to occur, it is necessary to undertake a much more structured and selective strategy than&#13;\nthe current one, despite the efforts of certain public bodies and private clusters that have long been dedicated to this goal.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Education_Within_the_Process_of_Openness\"><\/span><h2><strong>Education Within the Process of Openness<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><\/h2>\n\n<p>Education has not been excluded from this process of openness\u2014quite the opposite.<\/p>\n\n<p>In fact, during the first liberalisation phase in 2008, the first online university&#13;\nestablished itself in the Principality: La Salle.<\/p>\n\n<p>Since the second phase, no fewer than six universities have set up operations, with two more on the way. This situation, according to international organisations and institutions such as UNESCO\u2019s IESALC or the European Network of Quality Agencies, is beginning to raise eyebrows, as&#13;\nultimately the density of universities in Andorra is far higher than in any other country within the European Higher Education Area.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Fiscal_Factor_as_the_Main_Attraction\"><\/span><h2><strong>The Fiscal Factor as the Main Attraction<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><\/h2>\n\n<p>There is an explanation for this: having the option to establish themselves&#13;\nanywhere in the world, these institutions primarily choose Andorra because of&#13;\nits comparative tax competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n<p>In the same way, there is an enormous number of online training academies that massively sell \u201cmiraculous\u201d courses (infoproducts) and, as they generate very significant revenue, the fiscal advantage becomes the main differentiating factor\u2014beyond the fact that those who lead them are prominent influencers showing off luxury cars and tattoos in our streets.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Towards_a_More_On-Site_University_Model_with_Added_Value\"><\/span><h2><strong>Towards a More On-Site University Model with Added Value<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><\/h2>\n\n<p>Those who know me are already aware of my opinion about university&#13;\neducation and how my vision is heading towards a future on-site university&#13;\ncampus, offering studies in distinctive disciplines such as new technologies,&#13;\nhealth, management, and above all, sport in its various forms\u2014while also&#13;\nrecognising that online education can play a role.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Secondary_Education_and_High-Performance_Sport_A_Pending_Challenge\"><\/span>Secondary Education and High-Performance Sport: A Pending&#13;\nChallenge<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>Moving one step down the educational chain, allow me to focus on secondary&#13;\neducation and a very specific aspect that particularly concerns me and which&#13;\nmight have a solution: reconciling studies with high-performance sport, a topic&#13;\nthat still seems far from being developed as it deserves, despite the initial&#13;\nefforts of our Government with the Sport-Study Programme.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Need_for_Genuine_Flexibility\"><\/span><h2><strong>The Need for Genuine Flexibility<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><\/h2>\n\n<p>I sincerely believe that the current rigidity of the country\u2019s different education&#13;\nsystems regarding the creation of tailor-made programmes for young&#13;\nathletes\u2014who, due to their technical qualifications and competitive potential,&#13;\nare immersed in high-performance sports programmes\u2014must evolve into&#13;\ngreater flexibility and adaptability.<\/p>\n\n<p>We must value education, which most athletes do not wish to forgo, but adapt&#13;\nit to their circumstances.<\/p>\n\n<p>Yes, it is a challenge\u2014and also a sign of the maturity of our education&#13;\nsystem\u2014to find mechanisms that maximise the value of formal training and&#13;\nthe demands of high-performance sport.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Values_of_Sport_Applied_to_Learning\"><\/span><h2><strong>The Values of Sport Applied to Learning<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><\/h2>\n\n<p>Sport itself represents sacrifice, perseverance, rigour, collaboration, and&#13;\ncompetitiveness\u2014values which, when applied to education, can help build&#13;\ngreat people for the future: high-level athletes during part of their lives, and&#13;\nwell-educated adults equipped with the highest qualities to face the rest of the&#13;\ntime that providence grants them.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Online_Learning_is_Not_the_Answer_to_Everything\"><\/span><h2><strong>Online Learning is Not the Answer to Everything<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><\/h2>\n\n<p>In this case as well, online learning is not the best solution for these athletes.<\/p>\n\n<p>That is why I advocate for joint efforts\u2014especially from public institutions and sports federations\u2014to create adapted programmes that help our high- performance athletes\u2014who are numerous\u2014to successfully complete their&#13;\nacademic training with the offline or in-person support they deserve, while at the same time achieving the physical and technical preparation that enables them to compete internationally and bring honour to our beloved Principality.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Looking_Ahead_More_Quality_Less_Quantity\"><\/span><h2><strong>Looking Ahead: More Quality, Less Quantity<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><\/h2>\n\n<p>In the end, it all comes down to betting on quality over quantity.<\/p>\n\n<p>This should also apply to training and education.
